The app is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Standard EULA), which applies in full. These terms add what is specific to Chess Openings Trainer & Coach. By using the app you agree to both.
Who we are
The app is made by WP Center. Contact: support@chessopenings.co.
Chess Openings Pro
Chess Openings Pro unlocks every opening course, unlimited lessons per day and practice matches against Rook Bot. It is offered as an auto-renewing yearly subscription (which may include a 7-day free trial), an auto-renewing monthly subscription and a one-time Lifetime purchase. In the United States the prices are US$59.99 per year, US$9.99 per month and US$79.99 for Lifetime. Prices in other countries are shown in local currency in the App Store before you confirm, and may change; any change applies from your next renewal and Apple will tell you in advance where required.
Lifetime is a single, non-renewing purchase that gives Pro access for as long as the app is offered on the App Store.
Automatic renewal
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends if you start one. A subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings: on your iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Free trial
If a free trial is offered and you start it, you are not charged during the trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged at the end of the trial. The app shows the date your trial ends before you start it, and sends a reminder before it ends if notifications are allowed. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription. Each Apple Account can use a trial once.
Refunds
All payments are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves, but if something is not working, write to us and we will try to fix it.
Restoring purchases
You can restore an active subscription or Lifetime purchase on another iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account with Restore Purchases in the app's settings.
Chess content
Lessons, explanations and traps are written to help you learn and are checked carefully, including with a chess engine, but chess is complex and we cannot promise that every explanation is perfect or that you will win games. If you think an explanation is wrong, please report it.
Move statistics are based on the Lichess open database, released under CC0. Chess Openings is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Lichess or Chess.com. Opening names are used to describe chess openings only.
Acceptable use
You may use the app for your own personal learning. Do not copy, scrape, resell or redistribute the app or its lessons, and do not try to get around purchases or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
Intellectual property
The app, its lessons and explanations, the Hops and Rook Bot characters and this website belong to WP Center or its licensors. Third-party components are used under their own licenses, listed in the app's settings.
Liability
The app is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from its use, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
Changes
We may update these terms when the app changes. The new version will appear on this page with a new date. If you keep using the app after a change, the updated terms apply.
